Thank you so much for using our service this year of 2025, too.
This year, we had great events such as Osaka Kansai Expo 2025 and National Sports Game 2025 in Shiga, and these events brought us new people and inspired them to try cycling around Lake Biwa or exploring hidden wonderful places in local areas in Shiga. That was so much fun for us to interact with those guests from new countries and new areas in Japan.
It’s obvious that summer season in Japan is not for cycling as it’s too hot and humid to stay outdoors, even though, there were some challengers who tried Biwaichi in summer and ended up enjoying it as much as possible by taking break frequently in the shades where you can have nice breeze from the lake and by dipping in the water as you are staying by the lake while cycling Biwaichi. Their saying it was fun in the end amazed us.
But for the most people, spring and autumn are the best seasons to cycle as the weather is nice and you can also enjoy seeing faint pink colors in the view because of the cherry blossoms blooming all along the path for Biwaichi in spring, and fantastic autumn leaves here and there in autumn. We would like as many people as possible to experience that though, we are sorry that we sometimes could not meet bike rental requests from some guests because we had been chronically short-staffed. Now here’s a great news that we got a new staff member finally recently for the first time in almost a year! Therefore, we believe we would be doing better work than this year to help each guest have a great experience with our bike.
We are very thankful for all our guests who used us and who come back to us to use our service again and again, which we are really looking forward to every time.
And we are really grateful that we are supported by local people and cyclists, who helped us so much when we were running out of manpower this year. That’s what we realize and appreciate the most this year.
From mid-December, we have to close our shop temporarily until mid-February because of the coldness and the snow during winter.
Meanwhile, we are getting ready for the next season while doing maintenance on bikes and everything necessary for good service.

★Reservations for 2026 will be accepted from January 9th in 2026.
★During the winter closing, our business days are on weekdays only.
*We are off for New Year holidays & break 【12/29/2025～1/8/2026】and every weekend during the winter closing. You can email us and can make reservations anytime, but we will reply to you only on weekdays. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for using us always. Because we need to do maintenance on our BIWAICHI Reservation System, users cannot use the system during the following period. The reservation site is under construction from September 2nd [10:00 am] to September 3rd [10:00 am] （24 hours） During this period, you can make a reservation or send an inquiry via email or phone. 📞 +81 90 3863 8453 ✉ mail@biwaichi-cycling.com * Please note that we are off on Wednesdays, thus we cannot answer you on September 3rd（Wed）. Although the site will look a little different after the maintenance, the reservation number and the data of the customers who already made reservations on the current（previous）site is getting transferred.

Information about our shop closed days
Thank you very much for using us always.
We have information about our shop closed days as follows.
1. We will close our shop from May 13rd to 15th temporarily because we have to do maintenance on our rental bikes which have been used many times during the past Golden Week.
*If you have a reservation for the 16th and the 17th of May and have something to tell us regarding your reservation, please email us. We can’t answer any call while we are off from work.
2. We will close our shop every Wednesday for a while because we have been short-staffed.
Thank you for your understanding. We will do our best to provide a great service for you all.

Notice for our business schedule over Golden Week
Thank you very much for using us always.
We have information about our business schedule for Golden Week as follows.
1. We will close our shop on April 21st temporarily and we will work for your bike return but not for renting on April 22nd because we have to do maintenance on our rental bikes which are supposed to be used for Golden Week.
2. Because almost all bikes are reserved over the Golden Week, we are not able to accept new reservations for now. Thank you for your understanding.
We will do our best to provide decent bikes for you all.

Notice about our Reopen Day for 2025 Bike Rentals
Thank you all for your support as always.
We will inform you that we have to extend our winter closure due to the snow.
We updated on Feb. 21st about our reopen day as follows.
We were supposed to reopen Maibara cycle Station on February 20th（Thu）. However, currently we have snow and it’s blocking the cycle path. The situation is obviously not for cycling.
Therefore, we decided to extend our winter closure to February 21st（Fri） February 24th（Mon）and to reopen on 22nd（Sat） 25th（Tue）.
Actually, according to the weather forecast for now, it may snow this weekend as well. So, there is still a possibility for us to make a further extension.
For those who made a reservation for this weekend, we will make a contact to inform about the situation with some advice.
Please wait for coming announcement from us.

Winter Closing 2024 – 2025 【12/16/2024-2/19/2025】

Thank you for using our bike rental service this year of 2024, too.
As you can see in the photo below, we have had so many guests from many different countries and they left great message on it. We will keep it to inspire ourselves as it feels kinda reward for us.
Since more tourists from overseas have been coming to Japan these years, there’s overtourism in many cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto – if you don’t like to be in the crowds, why not come to countrysides like here in Shiga and biking is the best way to explore local areas and to refresh yourself.
Unfortunately, we have to close our shop temporarily because of the coldness and the snow during winter. Meanwhile, we are getting ready for the next season while doing maintenance on bikes and everything.

Temporarily closed on Aug. 27 due to Typhoon SHANSHAN
Thank you for using us always. A strong typhoon “SHANSHAN” is approaching and expected to hit West Japan for the latter of this week. We decided to temporarily close our shop, Maibara Cycle Station, tomorrow on August 27th . Please note that the day after tomorrow, August 28th, is also a closed day as scheduled in advance. Also, we may expand the closure period depending on the situation.
The temporary closure period has been extended. We are being off until 31st（Sat）.
＜Updated on August 28th＞ Thank you for your understanding. Please stay safe, everyone. *It is predicted that there will be some damage to the road in Shiga prefecture due to the typhoon. Please try to get the latest information.

Notice of Partial Revision of Rental Price
Partial Revision of Rental Price
Dear Our Valued Clients,
This is to notify you that we have decided to set High Season Rental Price and to revise the Paid Option Price（rental fee for bike accessories） , effective Feburuary 1st, 2024.
○Rental Price
1. High season pricing will be applied for Golden Week（Japan’s holiday week from the end of April to beginning of May）, Obon week（Mid-August）, and other long weekends.
2. Revision of Paid Option Price
*As for the details of the price revision, please check out the Rental Fee & Method page and down to Price and Time.
